Well here it is! I've been meaning, for several months, to start a blog directed at helping newcomers in the military to England. I've heard it time and again, ourselves included, where we just did not know how to start, where to look, what to do etc...
This was my first PCS with the military so that alone was confusing enough, but to come to a new country as well and not know how to utilize what was available to us really made it a lot more difficult. You, obviously, learn things over time, but I know that so many things would have gone so much more smoothly had we known ahead of time.
Of course you have a sponsor before your arrival, but honestly, what all can they help you with? Some could help you with everything I'm sure but I hear most of the time it's very little at all. To a sponsor's credit though, they probably don't know what you need to know or what is most helpful.
So...this idea was born into my sleepy little brain. Why not blog the things that I've learned since being here that would've made this move so much easier so it can help others?
That being said, I would greatly appreciate others to add their own experiences and input. How we can go about that...I'm not so sure, but either via comment or email is a good place to start!
So please any experiences you have had with a military PCS here or out of here, any information you have, suggestions so on and so forth, please share as well!
As I mentioned this was my first move with the military at all, so I'm sure I was just that much more at a loss than a lot of the more seasoned folks would have been.
So, over time you will see more posts w/ a pretty simple title so it will always be easy to find the info later on. I will include links in a sidebar to the most helpful sites etc...
And of course, if you have ANY questions at all, same as a suggestion, do NOT hesitate to ask via comment or email. If I do not know the answer, which is fairly likely, I will certainly find out for you if at all possible or at least point you in the proper direction.
I hope this helps everyone and...WELCOME! :0)
